2 Round Mock Draft

10/15/2018

Nikc Cafardo

Welcome to the first Season 3 Mock Draft with correct draft order. Both through sources and educated guesses I predicted every selection through the first 2 rounds. Is it right? Probably not. Will you read it and say you aren't high enough? Of course.

1.1 Cubs: Slapshot Brady CF/LF

Brady isn't exactly a household name, so there's some expected confusion here. The #1 pick? It would be hard to believe to me too, but Chicago GM Bear Thomas is reportedly looking at Nebraskan players that he's coached. A few names have been thrown around like Brady, Bonzalez, Dove, and some outside candidates like Pickles and Josh Gordon. Brady certainly isn't inactive, and reportedly does a lot of scouting in his college baseball team. It may be a surprise, but Brady is not a bad guy to build around.

1.2 Mets: Rich Mahogany CF/LF

Another outfielder goes early as one of the favorites to go early is taken by Caleb Athen. The formerly known Jeff Jefferson is one of the most discord active players, and also umps in NPR. Rich mentioned in my interview with him that he loves to steal bases, and also cares about his team having cool uniforms. I don't know if Caleb wants to steal lots of bases, but I know the Mets have bad uniforms. Oh well, he goes here anyway.

1.3 Marlins: Demetrios Ooga 3B/2B

Ooga is one of the more popular draft prospects, being around the league discord just about 24/7. Just like Mahogany, he umpires in NPR. Sources within the Marlins front office have told me that Ooga has impressed the teams scouts, so look for them to target him in the first 2 rounds.

1.4 Royals: Donnie Draper SS/2B

Another "Speedy" type player goes off the board to an expansion team. Draper is a very active discorder, specifically in the college baseball server that Royals GM Zack Andersen runs. There are questions surrounding Draper's ability to perform during the game, but he seems like he could be a team captain for the Royals.

1.5 Yankees: Charles Magnus P

The first current player goes off the board, assuming Magnus goes through with entering the draft as a pitcher. Expansion teams are likely going to be looking for a pitcher to get that spot locked down. Magnus is a veteran and has a high floor, but also has the ceiling of a PA Rep who can captain the bad guys. Although she is an IRL Red Sox fan, the Yankees are likely to be looking at Magnus as she is the former teammate of GM Tequila Sunrise, sources tell me.

2.1 Yankees: Michael Ikenberry C/1B

The Yankees fill yet another must-fill-early type position with the shallow catcher. Ikenberry I'd the most active of any catcher in discord, and the Yankees are probably impressed with his interest in umping in the Sunrise-ran NPR league.

2.2 Royals: Valeria Lisova P

Zack is coming from a team with 3 very good pitchers, so he won't wait much longer to take a pitcher. Lisova has one of the more impressive resumes of prospects: top level discord activity, top level reddit activity, a Twitter account, experience in NPR and College Baseball games, etc. Her character has come into questions from other prospects after her interview with me. Although she has said she prefers to pitch in a cold climate, I think the Royals jump on this opportunity here.

2.3 Marlins: Lloyd Gross 1B/3B

After taking Ooga in the 1st, the Marlins will look to fill up more of their infield. Sources have told me that the Marlins front office members are getting along with Gross quite nicely, despite being a conspiracy theorist who hates me. Gross is a power threat to hit behind Ooga, and also responds incredibly quickly in game, similar to Lane's Blue Jays teammates.

2.4 Mets: Dart Ragusa 1B/3B

The Mets have reportedly been very interested in Dart Ragusa since he first joined on Sticky Day in September. He's continued to hit well and be active around the discords since then, so the Mets are likely looking at him as someone who could lead the league in home runs in his rookie season.

2.5 Cubs: Erin Pickles 2B/SS

There are plenty more Cornhuskers on the board for Bear Thomas, but I think he steps back and takes an outside player he was reportedly interested in. Pickles is reliable and active on discord and reddit, and is also very wholesome. The Cubs won't need to get an early pitcher of they sign a veteran like expected.

2.6 Rockies: Jericho Caulfield 2B/RF

The first non-expansion team gets a chance to add to their roster at the 6th pick. The Rockies don't have a big hole anywhere, however, so they are just going to go for best player available in all likelihood. Caulfield is very active around discord. The only question is if Jack Alpha will be turned around by his lack of male genitalia in his name. They may also look at Harry Peritestes here.

2.7 Padres: Tara Dactyl P

Some may say Dactyl (formerly known as Vinagrette) is a surprise to fall this far. She hasn't been as active as the first days in the fake baseball server, but she is often around and did pitch a 3-inning no-hitter in fake college baseball. The Padres struggled mightily in the pitching department in Season 2, so they need to target one as early as possible to fill that need.

2.8 Astros: Mattress Cadaire 2B/SS

The Astros are getting this pick for losing Bear Thomas, and will need to fill the hole left by him at 2B/SS. Cadaire is the best available that covers both positions up the middle. If you look at the Astros roster now, you'll also see that they are very contact-orientated. Cadaire is a 1B/BB type hitter who fits just what the Astros want.

2.9 Blue Jays: Jocko Jones 2B/RF

Jocko Jones is a player who was an earlier candidate for the 1st round, his stock dropped a bit, but is now on the rise again. Blue Jays scouts have reportedly been watching Jones closely, they must be interested in just how similar he is to old 1st round pick Clipper Charge.

2.10 Phillies: Alvin Lockheart P

Lockheart hasn't gotten a ton of attention, as he is more commonly known as former Giants GM Quint Kimbrel. If anybody knows J.A. Bird, they know he loves a good comeback story. Players coming out of retirement like Hildebrandt, Omega, BB Bambino, etc. have all ended up on the Phillies, and Lockheart is another former player. The Phillies like to use a few pitchers again so he should be glad to see a clear active and reliable pitcher fall to this spot.

2.11 Diamondbacks: Reimer Gonzalez SS/CF

After some free agents leaving, the DBacks are left a bit shallow at up-the-middle positions. Gonzalez doesn't stack up with some first round candidates, but he is a consistently active player in discord. Arizona GM Doc JaAm tells me he won't put much stock into pre-season performance, and Reimer Gonzalez is a player who has struggled so far.
